Obituary

Aimee Mae Griffel, 82, of Ashton, died October 30, 2013, at the Ashton Living Center of natural causes. She was born January 28, 1931, in St. Anthony to Joseph and Henrietta Curr Housley.

She attended school in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1949.

She married Floyd Griffel on October 13, 1949, in St. Anthony. They settled in Squirrel in 1950, where she raised her family and lived for the rest of her life. She and Floyd owned and ran the Squirrel Store and Post Office. They ran the store until 1985, when they retired. Floyd passed away on August 9, 1995.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashton. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Mary Martha League.

She was a member of the Squirrel Pinochle Club. She enjoyed watching sports and loved to be outdoors caring for her yard. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; Robert Griffel of Ashton, Susan (Loren) Allen of Boise, Connie (Kendall) Boyd of Troy, Montana; grandsons Keegan Boyd and Jarred Boyd.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Billie Blake, Betty Rinehart; brothers, George Seaton, Harry Housley and Ralph Housley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashton, with Pastor Ryan Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Squirrel Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
