Obituary

Allyce Jeanne Brady, 91, of Ashton, died October 21, 2022, at Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony.  She was born on February 18, 1931, the only child of Fred and Grace Brady.

She was born a couple of months early in a one room apartment in the upstairs of the Strong house at 508 Idaho Street, Ashton, Idaho.

After high school Allyce went to business college in Idaho Falls Idaho and worked for Fess Fuller on the weekends. After College she also babysat for the Stewart family. After a while Herb Stewart who owned the Herald Agency Insurance hired Allyce part time to work in the office.

In 1960 Allyce, with the help of her dad bought the Dime store on Main Street in Ashton and ran it until 1981. After she sold it, it made her day when she would meet someone and they would ask if she had any penny candy for them. Allyce was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion, the Green Timber Good Fellowship Club and United Methodist Church.  She loved to read and put puzzles together and watch TV.

Allyce was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Grace Brady.

Someone once asked Allyce if she was lonely without having any family members around Ashton and she simply said that the whole Ashton area was her family.  From the day Allyce was born until the day she passed her life revolved around her parents. If you ever stopped to visit with Allyce, her face would light up as she talked about them. It was as if they were there again, if just for a few minutes, making her day.

Funeral Services for Allyce will be Monday, October 24, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Ashton at 11:00 AM with a visitation before the service at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton, under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
