Obituary

Bernetta "Bert" Hanson, 81, of Ashton, died January 2, 2025, at Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony, Idaho for causes incident to age.

She was born September 2, 1943, in Harrisonville, Missouri, to James and Bernice Ohlert Harris.  When she was in the 4th grade her family moved to Ashton, Idaho where she continued her schooling until graduating from North Fremont High School in 1962.

She then attended Idaho State University where she earned her Associates Degree.  She worked for a number of years for the Bureau of Land Management.

She married Kenneth Hanson on July 16, 1966.  After living in other areas for a number of years, they returned to Ashton in 1983.  They owned and managed the Imperial Club for 10 years before retiring.  Ken died on March 23, 2018.

Bernetta enjoyed her friends and being involved in the Ashton community.  She helped for years at the Flea Market, with the Historical Society and the Ashton Archives.  She volunteered at the Henry's Fork Museum.  She enjoyed genealogy and researched her family roots on both the Ohlert and Harris families.  In her younger years she was a member of the ski patrol at Lost Trail Pass ski area.  She had several pets through the years and loved their companionship.  She liked to fish and spend time with her husband and friends.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Kandace of Montana; a sister, Shawna Anderson of Pocatello; and many cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, at the Ashton Community United Methodist Church.  There will be a visitation that morning at the church from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to services.  Inurnment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
