Bettie
Grover
Jun 10, 1931 — Jan 26, 2025
Bettie Lucille Miller Grover was born on June 10, 1931, to William Ray "Bill" and Leona Berrett Miller in Drummond, Idaho. She grew up in Drummond on the family farm where she attended school and graduated from the eighth grade. Mom liked to tell the story of our Grandpa being the school bus driver which was an enclosed sleigh with a wood stove on it to keep warm. Mom went on to attend North Fremont High School. Her senior year the family moved to St. Anthony where she became a proud member of South Fremont's graduating class of 1949.
Following graduation Mom worked as a waitress at the China Clipper Café in St. Anthony for many years. She met a cowboy named Clyde Grover and they were married August 30, 1954. Mom and Dad made their home in St. Anthony purchasing their home in the spring of 1955, where they have resided for the past 70 years.
Mom was a very hard-working lady. She always had a job outside the home and helped Dad whenever possible. Mom worked at Chiz's Cafe, the Silver Horseshoe Café and at Hunter Drug and Hardware. She ended her working career at Rexcraft in Rexburg in 1992, while still working in customer service.
Although Mom loved working with the public, and gave them her best, her favorite job was staying home and caring for her family. She loved going with Dad to shoe horses, and hauling grain, or cattle. Even though Mom could be a force to be reckoned with, she was generous and compassionate. Mom was always willing to take a prepared meal to a neighbor, drive someone to the store, or help an elderly friend with the unexpected. When Mikki lived in Germany, she mailed her homemade bread and other care package items on a regular basis. When Lynn got his first apartment she continued to prepare his breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily while still doing his laundry. When Joe lost his vision Mom went to school with him everyday making sure his adaptations were in place and typed and wrote his school work out in large print. She did this for many years. Mom made sure she was home when the children arrived from school with an immaculate house and a hot meal on the table.
Mom loved to read, crochet, and quilt. She also enjoyed baking and was an expert at making candy.
She is survived by her children. Mikki Morris of Fayetteville, NC. Lynn (Jackie) Grover of Egin, and Joe (Cindy) Grover of Caldwell, two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Clyde, her parent Bill and Leona Miller, her brother F.A. (Bert) Miller, and a great grandson Canyon Morris.
There will be a graveside service to honor Mom's life later this spring when the snow has melted. This is per Mom's request as she disliked the snow!
