Robert "Bob" Frank Davis, 85, a longtime resident of the Egin area, died May 26, 2016, at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in St. Anthony of natural causes.
He was born July 16, 1930 in Wilford, Idaho to George Reuben and Anna Hartence Smith Davis. He attended school in Wilford and Sugar City, graduating from Sugar Salem High School in 1948.
He joined the US Navy in 1951 and served honorably on the navel destroyer the USS Brinkley Bass during the Korean War.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned home and worked for the Davis Family Sheep Company.
He married Connie Bradshaw on October 23, 1959, in Egin. They were sealed for eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on March 11, 1967. After they were married, they lived and farmed in the Monteview area for a time before returning to Fremont County where they raised their family.
Bob worked as a deputy for the Fremont County sheriff's department for five years. He and Connie then ran Bob & Connie's Café in Parker for a few years. He then went to work for the Idaho State Sheep Commission until retiring in 2005. After retiring from the commission, he went to work for the Fremont-Madison Irrigation District as a water master. He did this for a number of years until poor health forced him to retire again. He worked for many years on the sifting committee for the Idaho Wool Growers Association annual ram sale as well.
During Bob and Connie's entire married life, they were heavily involved in the sheep industry. They were members of the Idaho State Wool Growers Association. They also raised lambs for the 4-H and FFA programs in Fremont County and supported their grandchildren as they raised and showed sheep and other livestock at the county and state fairs. Bob served for many years as the sheep superintendent for the Fremont County Fair. His life revolved around raising sheep and working.
He was also an avid elk hunter. Bob's idea of elk hunting was that its done from the back of a horse and the day was never too long or his knees too sore.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his two sons, Bill (Pam) Davis of Twin Groves, Robert (Lori) Davis of Teton City; a sister, Florence (Vern) Stevenson of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Jessica (Dusty) Taylor, Eileen (Charles) Nelson, Kyle (Brandy) Davis, Krysten Davis, Dillon Davis, Jenna Davis; and 7 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Connie; brothers Emery, Glenn, Ross, Grant, and Paul Davis; and sisters Madge Davis and Ruby Jones.
The family expresses a special thank you to the caregivers at Homestead Assisted Living and at Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
