Brad "Bally"
Mockli
Jan 12, 1952 — Aug 13, 2025
If you knew him as "Bradley," you probably met him on official business. But for most of his life, he was simply Bally — a nickname born when his twin younger sisters had their own language, and it stuck for more than seven decades.
Bally was born in Preston, Idaho, on January 12, 1952, and grew up surrounded by rolling fields, mountain air, and a close-knit community that shaped his easygoing nature. Over the years, he called Preston, Boise, and Ashton home, making each place better for having him in it.
He was an avid skier and golfer, embracing Idaho's seasons with the same energy he brought to every part of his life.
Brad attended Boise State University, graduating with a degree in Horticulture. He worked in the golf industry across Idaho, at McU's in Boise, and later in farming in Ashton. In the early 2000s, he began working at the Fremont County Golf Course and would later become Superintendent/Manager, sharing laughs, lessons, and the occasional tall tale with friends and strangers alike. In the winters, you could find him behind the bar at Ott's Place, where regulars knew they'd find a welcoming face, a cold drink, and maybe a little good-natured ribbing.
On August 18, 2005, Bally married Eileen, and together they built a life filled with companionship, humor, and love. He became a proud stepdad to Gabe and Shaina, taking on the role with quiet pride and loyalty. He also happily accepted the role of "grandpa" to the family's grandogs, making sure everyone — human or otherwise — knew they belonged.
Bally was preceded in death by his parents, Christian William Mockli and Melba Ashcroft Mockli, his brothers Philip, William & sister-in-law Lynette, many beloved cats and granddog Chauncey. He is survived by his wife Eileen, stepson Gabe, stepdaughter Shaina, sisters Shari and Teri, nieces and nephews, cats Slugger and Lucy, and grandogs Sockeye and Shelby.
He will be remembered for his wry humor, his patience on the golf course, his warmth behind the bar, and above all, his gift for making people feel at ease. Whether you knew him as Brad, Bradley, or Bally, you knew a man who loved deeply, laughed often, and lived well.
