Bradley J
Orr
May 22, 1952 — Apr 13, 2023
Bradley J Orr, age 70, joined his eternal companion on April 13, 2023, at home surrounded by his devoted children. Brad was born May 22, 1952, in Egin, Idaho to William Ernest Orr and Luella Palmer. He was the 10th of 11 children. His parents farmed and ran a dairy on the Egin bench where the family all learned to work hard together and had many special memories.
He attended school in Parker, Idaho, and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1970. He enjoyed all classes that involved using his hands including: shop, leather class, mechanics, FFA, art, etc. During recesses and school breaks he could be found selling one of his leather wallets or whittling on any piece of wood he could find. He was most proud of his 1970 GTO Judge and loved to mess around with his friends to show it off.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and in 1971, he served a two year mission for the church in Ohio. Upon returning home he resumed working on the family farm and also began working for the Idaho Forest Industries Stud Mill in Saint Anthony. During this time he met Tamra Rainey on a blind date and on June 11, 1976, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple. They raised 2 daughters and twin sons on the Egin Bench. Here they built their life, dream home, and taught their children work ethics through farming /ranching and hauling firewood. Brad loved the farming/ ranching lifestyle and felt fortunate to raise his children in a similar fashion.
In 1993, when the stud mill closed, Brad went to work farming and ranching for White Sands Co. In 1999, he began working for the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections in Saint Anthony. All of the boys loved Mr. Orr who could not only "keep those boys in line" but could also be found teaching them a new skill, cooking them up some dutch oven dinner, or bringing Tamra's amazing baked goods to spoil them. He enjoyed working there until his retirement in 2019.
Brad was always in the shop finding something to build or fix. He had a love and knack for anything with wood, metal, or leather. He constantly had a project he was working on for one of his kids or was hand crafting toys and gifts for his grandkids. If Brad wasn't in the shop you'd find him always active irrigating, hunting in the desert, fishing on the Island Park Reservoir, or helping a neighbor.
In his last few years he struggled with various health issues. However, you would never hear him complain and still frequently catch him sneaking out to the shop to build something special for someone.
He is preceded in death by his wife Tamra, Daughter Nichole, Parents, Sisters (Myrna, Carole, Deanna, Renee, Brenda, and Jana) Brother (Darrell and Baby Orr), and many loved in-laws and family members. He is survived by his children, Brittany (Garrett) Foster, Dustin (Shawnee) Orr, Destry (Elizabeth) Orr, Fourteen grandchildren, sister Verlene (Gary) Triplett, and brother Scott (Vicki) Orr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Egin Bench Ward Chapel, 1633 E 400 N, Saint Anthony Idaho. A viewing will be held the evening before from 5:30pm -7pm and from 10 -10:45 prior to the service, both at the church. Interment will be at the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Brad wished that donations be made to the South Fremont High School Agriculture / Wood shop programs in Saint Anthony where he learned so many of his beloved skills. Donations can be made online at https://sfeducationfoundation.com/ under the memoriam tab.
