Obituary

Carolyn Suzanne Marotz, 67, of Rexburg, formerly of Ashton, died May 11, 2017. She was born May 11, 1950, in Tacoma, Washington to Dwight Hazen and Colleen Anderson Palmer. She was raised in Fillmore, Utah until the 7th grade when her family moved to Ashton, Idaho. She graduated from North Fremont High School in 1968.

She married Donald Marotz on January 24, 1969,in Ashton. Their marriage was solemnized the next day in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings, but her favorite was serving as the Primary chorister.

She and Don lived in the Greentimber area, east of Ashton, where they farmed and raised their family together. She was a hard worker and helped with all aspects of the farm. In her youth, she enjoyed horses and rodeos, and was an excellent barrel racer. She enjoyed sewing, especially making aprons.

Her family was most important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Don Marotz of Rexburg; children, Greg (Tricia) Marotz of Dothan, Alabama, David (Misty) Marotz of Rigby, Lori (Adam) Williams of Idaho Falls, Melanie (Dana) Barnett of Chester, Sharon (Tim) Williamson of Columbia, Maryland, Chelsie (Derek) Bruderer of Idaho Falls; and 19 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Sharon Palmer and Diane Dastrup; and a brother Michael Palmer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center, 512 North 2nd Street, with Bishop Curt Judy of the Ashton 3rd Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the stake center. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
