Colleen
Marshall
Jul 31, 1937 — Jan 29, 2021
Colleen Calder Marshall was born on July 31, 1937 in Vernal, Utah to David H. Calder and Kathleen Parry Calder. She was their first daughter and fourth of six children. She had three older brothers, Dick, Parry and Mike, and two younger sisters, Suzanne and Sally Joyce. She spent her early years in Vernal, Utah.
Colleen loved playing around the family dairy in Vernal and told stories of jumping from the icehouse loft into the sawdust piles that covered the ice. The family did a brief stint in the Navy from 1943-1945 eventually returning to Utah and residing in Provo.
Colleen was very artistic and loved to draw and paint. She was extremely close to her sisters and siblings, and was a hard worker who regularly helped with the family business. After attending B.Y. High, Colleen graduated from BYU in Home Economics in 1960. She went on to teach for the L.A. City Schools and at B.Y. High before eventually returning to BYU to earn a Master's degree in Family Relations in 1972.
During this time Colleen met and eventually married Jim Marshall. They were married in the Logan Temple on April 18, 1975. Colleen is the mother of 4 sons – Travis, James, Aaron, and Ladd – and grandmother to 17 grandchildren.
Colleen and Jim resided in Lyman, Wyoming from 1988 – 2009 before retiring and moving to Ashton, Idaho. Colleen was an eternal optimist who loved life and was extremely proud of her sons and their families. Her quick laugh and love of people were infectious and her daily acts of service will not be forgotten.
Colleen had a home that was always open to anyone day or night. In both Salt Lake City and Lyman, her home quickly became the favorite hangout for the youth in the neighborhood as her natural love of children and 'more the merrier' attitude drew many to her home. Her home was always a place of entertainment and joy.
Colleen left this earthly life and entered paradise in the early hours of January 29th, 2021. She is preceded in death by her mother Kathleen, Father David, and two brothers Dick and Parry.
