Obituary

Cooper Lee Lenz passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the family home in Rigby Idaho, He leaves behind a spirit of humor and kind-heartedness that will continue to bless the lives of his family and friends.

Cooper was born in Rexburg, Idaho on January 6, 1996, the second of five children born to Shaun and Jori Lenz. At a young age family and friends alike remember his raspy voice and bright smile. He loved to play with his siblings and cousins, whether it was in the snow, on dirt bikes or at the Ashton City pool. You always knew where he was in a room because of that raspy voice and huge personality.

Cooper went on to develop a love for wrestling, and he was proud to have wrestled for North Fremont High School for the entirety of his career. Wrestling instilled within Cooper a set of principles that would guide him beyond high school and into his adult years. He remembered those days at tournaments with fondness and often dreamed of volunteering to coach. His parents loved the thrill of cheering him on from the sidelines. He was a gentle giant both on and off the mat.

Outside of school and sports, Cooper loved spending time outdoors. He went on family camping trips to Tear Drop Lake and Horseshoe Lake. He loved to ride tubes with his siblings out on the Ashton reservoir, and behind a snowmachine in the fields surrounding his childhood home in Ashton. He loved to dress up for Halloween, trick-or-treating with his siblings, and would often request watching a musical for family movie night.

After graduating, Cooper would develop a love for cooking, especially if he could get away with adding some spices. He would never hesitate to experiment and create with food. Because of him his family had full bellies and plenty of laughs; he would provide it all. Cooper worked for his parents' company Premier Energy and Controls as a low voltage technician. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his co-workers Nate, Jordan, Tucker, Willie, Bobbie, Errin, Corbett and Lisa. He especially enjoyed the days spent working side by side with his father and brother.

Cooper also developed a love for fishing, and when he wasn't working with his dad and younger brother, time out on the lake was time well spent. That famous grin of Cooper's would return when he hauled in a big catch. When the snows would come, Cooper found solace in riding through the mountains on a snowmachine, with friends and family alike. And if he could ride Arctic Cat, and if it could be black and green, then he would ride anywhere, anytime.

As he became older, it was clear that Cooper wasn't just goofy and kind-hearted, but soulful and passionate. He cared, and he felt, in ways that were subtle but profound. His love of music deepened into a search of spiritual expression, and he loved not only sharing this music with others, but explaining what the music meant to him. He searched for deeper meaning where so many would settle for less. He found reserves of love and inner strength in places that few ever do, and he gave it all, without complaint, to those he cared for the most.

Cooper leaves behind his loving parents, Shaun and Jori Lenz of Rigby, Idaho; big brother Trevor and wife Kimberly Lenz of Boise; little brother Tucker and wife Dakotah Lenz of St. Anthony; baby sisters Allyx Lenz of Rexburg and Annika Lenz of the family home. Grandparents Duane and Lynda Kerbs of Ashton; and Lois Lenz of Ashton. Many adoring aunts, uncles , cousins and lifelong dear friends. He is preceded in death by his Grandfather Gene Lenz, Great-grandparents Earl and Verna Hunt, George and Bertha Kerbs, Elmer and Viola "Vi" Lenz, and Earl and Wilma Calonge.
