Obituary

Craig James Boyd, son of James Lafayette Boyd and Doris Elaine Long, died Saturday, September 21, 2024, at home in Ashton, Idaho after his battle with pancreatic cancer.

Craig, a beloved friend and family member, was born in Sedro-Woolley, WA on June 3, 1958. He lived in the Skagit Valley area moving to Ashton in 2021. During his high school years, he worked for the Forest Service in Sedro-Woolley, gaining a love of the outdoors.

In 1978, he graduated from Skagit Valley College with a degree in Electronics, quickly working his way into the 2-way radio field with a career at Ducap/Day Wireless. Craig loved climbing the towers to work on equipment at various remote mountain sites and was eventually recruited into the public safety side to manage the emergency radio systems for Snohomish County, WA.

Craig was proficient at flying RC airplanes and drones, a hobby he shared with his father during his youth. He had several other passions throughout his life including music, in which he played the trumpet, guitar, and keyboards. Craig loved riding and immaculately detailing his Honda Goldwing as well as working on small engines; he also would never turn down a bonfire and a beer with friends.

After retiring in 2018, Craig flourished in a second "career", volunteering his handyman, mechanical, and landscaping services to disabled and senior citizens. Anyone who truly knew him realized what a gift he was to any community. Craig was service-driven and helped any who needed or asked for assistance. Upon moving to Ashton, he thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities he was blessed with in driving trucks and tractors for local operations.

Craig died at home, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Andrea; his children, Chris (Carly) and Brittany; his grandchildren, and his bonus daughters, Rissy and Jamee Carter.
