Craig O Williams passed away peacefully at the age of 58, surrounded by family, in the University of Utah Hospital on Wednesday, May 16th. Craig was born on January 4th, 1960 in Ashton, Idaho to Harvey and Barbra Williams. He attended school in Ashton, where he played football, basketball, and golf. He was a very talented athlete, and the ping pong champion at North Fremont. Craig was also musically inclined and learned how to play the guitar at a young age. He had a beautiful voice, and spoke of playing and singing "Hey Jude" in front of his entire High School.
Craig was the oldest of four, and he took pride in the role of being big brother. His sister Carol recalls Craig taking her with him on a date to the drive in movie, because she asked to go. It was a scary movie, and the girls jumped so much they made his Road Runner jump too. Craig only laughed.
Craig graduated from North Fremont High School in 1978, and served an LDS Mission in Belgium, where he learned Flemish. His brother, Todd, later served the same mission, and they would often speak in Flemish over the Pinochle table to the chagrin of the other players.
After returning home from his mission, Craig began dating Junell Loughney, and proposed on the 4th of July under a sky filled with fireworks. They married and were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls temple on August 22, 1981.
After starting a family, Craig's main purpose in life became supporting and providing for them. He became the father of four daughters, whom he loved unconditionally. Craig was not a man to cry often, except when one of his beloved daughters were hurt. His pursuit to provide the best for his family took him on many career paths, his final career change brought him back to Idaho working for the Idaho Department of Labor.
Throughout his life, Craig took joy in being active with Church callings, and everyone who knew him, knew that a bag of Dove chocolate was the best way to get on his good side. He became a gun enthusiast and enjoyed showing off his collection. The final years of his life were spent caring for his grandchildren, volunteering in the community, and going on as many adventures as he could with his wife, including many camping trips, a cruise, and side by side excursions.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbra Andersen Williams and is survived by his father, Harvey Williams, his wife, Junell Loughney Williams, his siblings, Carol (Blair) Jones, Todd (Kelly) Williams, Denise (Justin) Clement, his daughters, Tasha (Eric) Bere, Bri (Doug) Drussel, Cherstin (Brandon) Rigby, Kaity Williams, and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the stake center. Burial will be in the Chester Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
