Obituary

Darrell "DM" Moore Anderson died peacefully at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center on March 21, 2018 in Idaho Falls, ID at the age of 86.

DM is survived by his second wife, JoAnn Richards Anderson of Ashton, ID; children, Kurt (Carna) Anderson of San Tan Valley, AZ and Tracy Anderson of Scottsdale, AZ. DM has four grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Fern Rumsey Anderson; parents, Irving Peter and Goldie Myrtle Moore Anderson; sisters, Marteal Anderson Watson and Catherine Anderson England; brothers, Carrol Anderson and Jay Anderson.

Darrell was born on September 24, 1931 in Blackfoot, ID. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1949. Darrell joined the U.S. Navy when the Korean War began and was stationed in Hawaii and Maine. While stationed in Maine, Darrell attend Bowdoin College.

After the war Darrell returned to Blackfoot where he met and married Darlene Fern Rumsey. Darrell and Darlene lived in Woodville, ID while Darrell established himself in government contracting. The couple welcomed Darrell Kurt Anderson in 1957 and Tracy Anderson in 1960. The family moved to Shelley, ID in 1965. After many years of illness, Darlene passed away in 2000. Darrell will be remembered as her sole caretaker and caring husband.

Darrell married JoAnn Richards in 2002 and become a resident of Ashton, ID. Darrell and JoAnn traveled extensively, traveling to Australia, Europe, South America, Central America and the Southwest United States.

Darrel became close to JoAnn's children, Alex Richards, Janalyn (Scott) Larish, Laura (Chris) Wollan; and JoAnn's six grandchildren.

Darrell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

DM was an optimistic and vivacious person who loved his work, traveling, politics, and cooking. He loved to cook big meals and invite the neighbors over and tell stories. He was a wonderful host and will be missed for his generosity. You had to be really on your feet to outwit DM, but no way could you outsmart him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, at the Ashton Tri-Ward Building with Bishop Curt Judy officiating. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls, under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home, with military rites.

The family would like to thank the Rumsey Family, Fred Cooper, Brian Christensen, and the hospital staff, for their care and efforts in DM's last weeks.
