Obituary

David Ronald Palmer, 78, of Ashton, Idaho passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, July 3, 2022.  David was born on December 31, 1943 to Elfrieda Leisalotta Gerlach in Rochester, Monroe, New York.


David grew up in Hyrum, Utah with 7 siblings. He served in the US Navy on the USS Rainier ammunition ship for four years and was honorably discharged. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many callings including Branch President of the Island Park Branch, Scout Master, Sunday School President, High Council, and High Priest.


David was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, being in Salmon, spending time with his family, and worrying about how to make his loved ones feel loved and comfortable.


He married Karen Clark of Ashton, Idaho on August 14, 1970, and together they raised, three sons and two daughters. He lived in Island Park, Idaho for 24 years.


David is survived by his wife Karen Clark Palmer of Ashton, Idaho. His sons Ronald Raymond Palmer (Monique) of Ashton, Idaho; David Shane Palmer (Britnie) of Ashton, Idaho; and his daughter Christiana Naomi Willis (David) of Pocatello, Idaho; daughter-in-law Lindsay Palmer of Ashton. His siblings Timothy Lee Palmer of Texas; Abraham Karl Palmer of Dutch Harbor, Alaska; Ruth Alana Roberts of Pocatello, Idaho; Rebecca Lou Sumrell of Montana; Rachel Sue Wiley of Rexburg, Idaho; Mary Emilie Shumway of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Martha Elfieda Hillman of Mystic, Connecticut. As well as twenty-one grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.


David was preceded in death by his mother, Elfrieda and his father Elbert, as well as two sisters and two brothers. Also his Son, Randell Lee Palmer (Lindsay), and his daughter, Stephanie Lynn Palmer.


David's services will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022. His viewing will be from 9:30-11:00 and the funeral service at 11:00. Both will be held at the Ashton Stake Center located at 516 2nd Street. The graveside service will be directly following at the Pineview Cemetery.
