Debrah Kay Mattingly, 59, of Ashton, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from natural causes. She was born February 27, 1954, in Downey, Idaho to Brown and Bertha Capell Lowry. She attended Arimo Elementary and graduated from Marsh Valley High School. She then attended Ricks College and graduated with a degree in nursing.
She married Thomas Earl Mattingly on August 3, 1973, in the Logan Utah LDS temple. They moved to Ashton in 1974 where they raised their family.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She enjoyed teaching the children in Primary and also teaching a quilting class.
She was a Registered Nurse and worked for over 25 years at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
She enjoyed quilting, motorcycle riding, cooking, kayaking, hiking and sharing her talents with others. She loved to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Tom of Ashton; children, Bruce (Meredith) Mattingly of Wilford, Wyatt (Kim) Mattingly of St. Anthony, Wendy (Michael) Hogle of Ashton, Ben (Luz) Mattingly of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers Wendell (Jackie) Lowry of Ammon, Craig Lowry of Boise; sisters Marsha (Carl) Baker of Hyrum, Utah, Paula (Neal) Ranstrom of Pinetop, Arizona; 6 grandsons, four granddaughters with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Kendra K. Mattingly and a brother Steve Lowry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center, 516 North 2nd Street, with Bishop Craig Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. both times at the stake center. Interment will be in the Arimo Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
