Della Ann Murdoch Davis Perry, 94, of Ashton, died May 28, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. She was born March 22, 1921, in Rupert, Idaho to Thomas and Sarah Hansen Murdoch. She was raised and attended grade school in Farnum, Idaho east of Ashton. She graduated from Ashton High School and attended Ricks College.
She married Stephen Reese Davis on November 8, 1939, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had three children. Stephen died on July 4, 1975. She later married Joseph Perry. He died on January 6, 1991.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Relief Society president twice and twice as a counselor, on two Stake Relief Society boards, on the Stake YWMIA board, on the Stake Primary board, taught Sunday School and served in the other auxiliaries. She was a visiting teacher for 56 years and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for 25 years. She volunteered at the Ashton Visitor's Center and the Hess Heritage Museum.
She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, baking, family, and being involved in her church and community.
She will always be affectionately known as "Grandma Della" to many. She had a great sense of humor and was a kind and compassionate person, never knowing a stranger.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Bolland and daughter-in-law Mary Lou Davis, both of Ashton; grandchildren Steve, Sherry, Reeca, Tammy, Lori and Sharon; great-grandchildren Katianne, McKenzi, Hope, Taylor, Logan, Joshua, Kaiden and Shane; great-great-grandchildren Easton, Treyson and Sayler; a brother Gilbert Murdoch of Idaho Falls; and a sister Betty Marquise of Groton, Vermont. She is preceded in death by her parents, her true love Stephen Davis, son R.J. Davis, daughter Nancy Dawn Davis, Joseph Perry, brothers Todd, Vaughn and Lynn and a sister Clara.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center with Bishop Craig Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. both times at the stake center. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
