Delwin Smith

Warren Delwin Smith, 73, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father, on June 16, 2026 after a short and aggressive battle with lymphoma cancer.

Delwin was born on April 3, 1953, in Driggs, Idaho, to Lyle and Jo Smith. He spent his life devoted to his faith, family, country, and community. A friend to all who knew him, Delwin was known for his selfless service, unwavering faith, and genuine kindness. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued.

Delwin was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and frequently bore testimony of His love and gospel. His faith guided every aspect of his life and was evident in the way he served others, loved his family, and faced life’s challenges with humility and trust in the Lord.

On August 2, 1971, Delwin married the love of his life, Elaine Eck. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 5, 1983. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with two children, Cody and Amber.

Delwin worked as a farm mechanic for Jay & Clyde Ricks for 27 years and also worked at the Hydroelectric Power Plant in Felt for 25+ years. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and willingness to help others.

Delwin is survived by his wife, Elaine; his son, Cody (Marilyn) Smith; and his daughter, Amber (Will) Hulse. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren — Caden (Sydney), Joshua (Alizabeth), Marissa (Austin), Lucas, and Liam. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved them beyond measure. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild, due in October.

Family was Delwin’s greatest joy. Whether it was football, lacrosse, basketball, track, dance recital, or any event involving those he loved, he could always be found in the stands cheering them on. He was their biggest supporter and took great pride in every accomplishment, big or small.

Delwin honorably served in the Army National Guard. In later years, he helped provide military honors for fellow veterans at funeral services and considered it a privilege to recognize their service.

Delwin was preceded in death by both of his parents, Lyle and Jo Smith; his brother, Kent; and many other loved ones.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tetonia Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held at the Tetonia LDS Church the evening before, Sunday, June 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and again Monday prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will follow at Cache Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia, Idaho under the direction of Baxter Funeral home with military honors by American Legion Post 95.

Though his family will deeply miss his presence, they find comfort in knowing that through the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, families can be together forever.
