Obituary

Dennis Arthur Moon, 77, of Ashton, died April 29, 2020, at his home of natural causes. He was born February 22, 1943, in Ashton, to Samuel Ray and Ivy Mae Dixon Moon. He attended school in Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School.

After graduation, he joined the Army National Guard. His unit was activated during the Vietnam War and he served in Vietnam for 18 months.

He married Vickie Sallenger on June 26, 1964, in St. Anthony, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home, and raised their family west of Ashton.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

When Dennis returned from serving in the military, he went to work with his uncle, Fred Dixon, doing carpentry. After a few years he then went to work for Fremont Co-op. After ten years at the co-op he went to work for Utah Power and Light where he worked until his retirement.

He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed raising a garden and took great pleasure in sharing the produce that he grew with widows and other friends in the community. He always tried to be aware of those that could use a helping hand and taught his kids to do the same.

He enjoyed his friends and looked forward to his daily visits with them at the coffee shop.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie of Ashton; children, Mike (Charae) Moon of Ephraim, Utah, Rick Moon of St. George, Utah, Beckie (Wes) Johnson of Payson, Utah, Emmalee (Corey) Jensen of Divide, Colorado, Glenna (Keith) Hart of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Brandon Moon of Ashton; siblings, Beatrice Blain of St. Anthony, Ellsworth (Janine) Moon of Ashton, A.J.
