Derrald L. Baler, 77, of Ashton, died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at his home in Marysville from complications from cancer.
Derrald was born February 10, 1936 in Driggs, Idaho to Donald and Ella Stokes Baler. He was the youngest of 5 children. He had three older sisters and an older brother. He attended elementary school in Tetonia and later graduated from Teton High School in Driggs.
He married Stella Wood on November 16, 1962, in Wilford, Idaho. In 1974, they bought a home in Marysville where they have raised their family and resided since that time.
He worked for Reinke Grain for about ten years and then farmed for Preston Atchley for ten more years.
Derrald was an all season man. He loved to go to the snowmobile races. He also enjoyed the car races and supporting his sons at their races. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and watch them all in their different activities.
He is survived by his wife Stella; his sons, Leon (Susan) Baler, Gary (Norann) Baler and Dale Baler; his sister Dalene; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two sisters and two twin grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton, with Bishop Gary Marsden officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and the Idaho Honor Guard.
