Obituary

Diane Roods Sielinsky, 75, died in her home in Island Park, Idaho on September 26, 2017, of heart failure. She was born February 18, 1942 in Kalispell, Montana, to Mildred Jane Allen. At age 5, Diane's mother married Robert Charles Roods, and they moved to a ranch on Pryor Creek, Montana.

Diane attended a one room schoolhouse on Pryor Creek through the eighth grade, often being the only student in her class, and many times riding her horse to school. She graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1959.

Diane married Joe Sielinsky on April 4th, 1959. She met and started dancing with the love of her life, Joe, at the age of 5, he 7. They continued their dance throughout the last 70 years of their lives together. They shared their love of dancing with friends and family by hosting an annual Barn dance, with their friends, Larry and Joyce Johnson.

After two years in the Billings and Pryor area, they moved to Bozeman, Montana, where Diane worked in the photo lab on the campus of Montana State University, honing her skills as a photographer and photo lab technician, while Joe studied Electrical Engineering. After receiving his degree, they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Diane continued her photography business, primarily in portraiture, out of her home studio and darkroom. She took a part time job with Business Management Services, then became the office manager of the Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates, until her retirement in 1987. When Joe retired in 1995, they moved to Island Park, Idaho to their beautiful cabin they had started building together in 1978, and have loved living there for the last 22 years.

Diane was a generous, creative, fun loving, energetic, community minded lady. It has been often said that there was no way to keep up with her. Diane loved books, music, and playing games of all kinds, especially disc golf on the "Pig Farm", golf, Bridge, Pinochle, and a variety of other card, board, and word games. She loved to travel, dragging Joe away from their beloved Island Park to the far reaches of the world.

There are very few lives in the greater Island Park area that haven't been touched by Diane's involvement in many groups and organizations. She started and hosted the Island Park Quilt Guild, and belonged to the Targhee Women's Club, the Island Park Women's Club, the Red Hat Mountain Mamas, the Book Club, the Community Fund Board, the Island Park Historical Society, the Sewing Club, and many other activities too numerous to mention.

Diane is survived by her husband, Joe Sielinsky; daughter, Kara Sielinsky-Dodge and her husband, Steve Dodge; grandson, Dustin Dodge; her brother, Bob Roods, Jr and his wife, Sue; her sister, Terry Bergstrom and her husband, Tim.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karla Morrison; and her parents, Bob and Mildred Roods.

The family extends a special THANK YOU to the Fremont County Deputy Sheriff, the Island Park Emergency Medical Technicians, and the Fremont County Paramedic in their exemplary, valiant, and compassionate effort to revive Diane. They also would like to extend their appreciation to the Fremont County Deputy Coroner for her compassion.

The family would like to extend their invitation to a Memorial and Celebration of Life on Friday, October 6th, 2017 at 2:00 pm, at the Mack's Inn Playhouse, on the South Big Springs Loop, off Highway 20 in Island Park, Idaho. A luncheon will be held immediately afterwards for everyone.
