Richard and Evelyn Walker, passed away with their family at their sides within two days of each other at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes. Richard died January 25 and Evelyn died on January 27.
Richard "Dick" LaMar Walker was born August 7, 1932, in West Jordan, Utah, to William LaMar and Farrel Fae Shulsen Walker.
Dick enjoyed hunting. As a young man he enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting. As he got older and had a family, he enjoyed hunting deer and elk with his family. He liked to fish and one of his favorite fishing spots was Coffee Pot. He had many horses and enjoyed riding them with his children and grandchildren. He served for many years in the Boy Scout organization and enjoyed camping and fishing with the scouts and his family. He was a Boise State football fan.
Dick was a microbiologist and worked as a pharmacist. He enjoyed farming and ranching.
Evelyn Joyce Lambros Walker was born June 7, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gus Epaminondas and Laura Opha Christensen Lambros.
She had many interests and loved to sew and embroider. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and gardens. She liked camping with her family, See's Chocolates, reading, and celebrating her Greek heritage.
Evelyn was a skilled and compassionate nurse. During her years of nursing she worked at St. Mark's Hospital, University of Utah Medical Center, Cottonwood Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital.
Dick and Evelyn were married on December 30, 1954, in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 12, 1965. Seven children were born to this union.
Dick and Evelyn were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. Evelyn served in the Relief Society and loved family history and attending the temple. Both Evelyn and Dick had generous hearts and loved serving and helping other people. They loved, and were proud of, their 7 children, 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
They are survived by their children, Cheryne (Richard) Sandberg of West Jordan, Gregory (Lesli) Walker of Island Park, Bartley (Lynda) Walker of Murray, Utah, Christine (Timothy) Taylor of St. George, Utah, Jeanette (Keith) Boswell of Roy, Utah, Richard (Ana) Walker of Taylorsville, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Judy Walker of Roy, Utah; 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Dick is also survived by a brother, Jerry (Marilyn) Walker.
They are preceded in death by their parents and a son, Matthew Walker. Evelyn is also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Curtis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, at the Island Park LDS Chapel, with Bishop George Brunt officiating. The family will receive friends and family Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Island Park Cemetery on June 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home in Ashton.
In addition to the funeral services in Idaho, there will be a Celebration of Life held at 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, at 6500 S. Dixie Drive, West Jordan, Utah, for friends and family unable to attend the services in Island Park.
