David "DJ" Scott Warnke, Jr., 32, of Sugar City, died November 12, 2013, at Madison Memorial Hospital from complications of diabetes. He was born November 5, 1981, in Idaho Falls to David and Lawana Doak Warnke. He attended elementary school in Ashton and high school in Sugar City.
He married Brittany Larsen on October 1, 2012, in Idaho Falls. He became a father to her two children, Breeanna and Braxton.
He worked as a mechanic with his father at Warnke Repair. He was his dad's right hand man. He also worked for a time running a fertilizer spreader.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He enjoyed snowmachining, boating and camping. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He liked guns and had a large gun collection.
He was a kind a generous person and was always looking for opportunities to serve and help others. He enjoyed children and was liked to tease and spend time with his nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents David and Lawana Warnke; his siblings, Jerrami (Riki) Marotz, Mandy (Jed) Bangerter; the love of his life, Brittany, and her children Breeanna and Braxton; nieces, Karlee and Katie Marotz, Ashlin and Kelsie Sharp; nephews, Michael and Declan Bangerter; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Denni Dawn Marotz Sharp; a brother, Herman Warnke, Jr.; grandparents, Herman Warnke, Bob Doak, Betty Moulton and Virginia Doak.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, at the Ashton Tri-Ward Building, 1313 North 3600 East in Ashton, with Bishop John Sharp of the Wilford 2nd Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton, and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with DJ's Christmas Giving Tradition.
