Obituary

Doris Rasmussen Grube, 80, of Ashton, died June 28, 2017 at her home of natural causes. She was born May 2, 1937, in St. Anthony, Idaho to John Allen and Ethelyn Emma Jenkins Rasmussen. She was raised in the Kilgore and Parker areas. She attended elementary school in Kilgore and Parker and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1954. While in high school she loved participating in marching band. The band was chosen to participate in the Rose Bowl Parade her senior year.

She married Rulon Grube on May 3, 1957, in Parker, Idaho. She and Rulon made their home in Ashton where they raised their five children, David, Derek, Rauland, Sharla and John. Doris and Rulon celebrated 60 years of marriage in May.

She worked at Fall River Electric as an accounting supervisor. She retired after 27 years in 1999.

Doris was noted for her intellect and sense of humor.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and appreciated her visiting teachers.

She enjoyed music and especially playing the piano and saxophone. She was an avid reader. Growing up in Kilgore, she was a true cowgirl. She loved riding her horse, Pepper. She loved rodeos and she and her family traveled to the Calgary Stampede for the better part of 3 decades.

She was very supportive of family and friends and loved to follow them in their activities and sporting events throughout her life. She loved the theater and attending the Playmill in West Yellowstone. She was proud of, and loved her family and community. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Rulon; children, David, Derek (Kristine), Sharla (Scott) and John (Gina); sisters, Joan Stoddard and Carole Olsen; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Rauland and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton.
