Perry "Doug" Bloom, 56, of Rigby, died August 27, 2019, at his home of natural causes. He was born February 8, 1963, in Ashton, Idaho to Perry Mason and Virginia Ruth Kays Bloom.
He attended schools in Ashton. He joined the US Army in 1980 and did his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood , Missouri.
Doug worked at several different jobs. He worked for a time at Idaho Falls Tire and Battery, and at Carl Gray Tires. He then worked as a long haul truck driver until his retirement due to health concerns.
He married Debbie Call. Two children were born to this union, Anthony and William Perry. They were later divorced.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He lived in several areas during his life; Ashton, Ammon, Idaho Falls, Challis, Pocatello, Idaho; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, riding snowmachines, all outdoor activities, and football. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
His service dog, Daisy, was his life!
He is survived by his children, Anthony (Ruby) Van Houten and William Perry Van Houten of Pocatello, Rob (Christina) Wells of Idaho Falls; Daisy, his service dog; his sister, Callene (Frank) Zink of Menan; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jacque Bloom Bollinger, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Teton Village Apartments, 410 Annis Highway, in Rigby, on Saturday, September 7, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baxter Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
