Marion "Duke" Tam, 75, of Island Park, passed away at his cabin from natural causes on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
He was born February 27, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa to Marion and Ruby Schwitzer Tam. He attended high school in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1966. He then attended Utah State where he was involved on the debate team. He finally graduated with a Bachelor Degree after going to Vietnam.
While attending Utah State he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 18 ½ years. He served 5 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was proud of his service in the Navy and was very patriotic and loved his country.
He married Marilyn Slaton on November 22, 1986, in San Diego, California on the Naval Base in Coronado. They spent their married years between San Diego and Island Park.
While living in San Diego, Duke owned and operated "The Office", a bar where he enjoyed his friends and patrons. Duke also worked for several years at New Pioneer Rock and Jewelry shop in West Yellowstone, Montana. He was a great salesman and enjoyed his associations there.
Duke loved Corvettes and enjoyed owning and driving them.
Duke is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Kristen and Dan Bronk, Brandi Mimnaugh, Lisa and Jon Runquist; six granddaughters, Megan, Abi, Jo, Tyler, Lucy, and Zoey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Ruby; and his brother, Larry.
Private family services will be held.
