Obituary

We all have rare moments in life where time stands still for a time. For us that was the short life of Easton Cody Rasmussen. Easton came to earth on December 5, 2018 to his loving parents Cooper Ryan Rasmussen and Emily Rose Allen. He was immediately loved by so many including his adoring brothers. From the very beginning of his life, Easton blessed all of those who loved him with the most loving spirit.

Easton's life was full of physical challenges and countless doctor's visits, but he endured all of it with patience and bravery. Easton loved cuddles and kisses and experienced a whole lifetime of kisses in his time with us. Easton couldn't verbalize how he felt about his family, but that is likely the reason we could actually feel what he was feeling so deeply. Like the warm sunshine on your face, he immediately brought warmth and brightness to your soul if you were lucky enough to cuddle with him in his bed, feel his hand on your face, or look at his beautiful blue eyes. He was literally his family's sunshine and his mother would often sing or play "You are my Sunshine" in his room.

Easton may not have come to earth to write a book, travel the world, or make the winning shot in a basketball game, but what he came here to do was much more impactful to his family than any of those things. Easton came with the quiet powerful reminder that love and family and taking care of each other is what matters most in this life. If Easton's mom had a choice, she would be at the river behind her house, holding her baby boy. If his dad had the choice, he would be taking his little boy fishing and skipping rocks. Like a river, life ebbs and flows until there is a sudden fork. Easton was a fork that will change the direction of our lives forever. Because of him, we will love each other more, be more understanding of other's struggles, and have more patience and compassion for those around us.

Our hearts are broken because we miss Easton's physical body on this earth. However, in our minds we can see his legs now running free, his sweet little hands that we held are now playing in the sand, his perfect face smiling with his beautiful blue eyes sparkling with life.

We know Easton well enough to know that he is not done teaching us about life yet. We know Easton will be with us, a guardian Angel wrapping his arms around all of us, especially his parents, brothers, grandparents and others who sacrificed many hours making sure he had the very best care. For those who may be reading this that didn't know Easton in this life – next time you feel the sunshine on your face, please remember our 2-year old blue eyed boy who's little life wasn't nearly as long as we wished it couldn't been, and then go take some sunshine to your loved ones who are still physically with you. Next time you sit by the river like Easton and his mom and brothers loved to do, remember that it's never too late to change your own life's course. Everyone needs an Easton in their lives, we feel amazed that we were blessed to share his life with him.

Easton is survived by his parents, his brothers Jaxen Powers, and Ridge Beckstead, grandparents Leesa Allen, Grant and Teresa Allen, Ryan Rasmussen, and Tracy and Andrea Mobley, great-grandparents Marvin and Brucene Hill, Steve and Mary Fran Jeppesen and many aunts, uncles, sweet little cousins.

Private funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct 10 at 2 o'clock.
The family will meet with friends and family that evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. Interment will be at the Ashton Cemetery in Ashton ID.
