Edith Waddell Carlson Wade, 85, of Driggs, passed away peacefully at home, on April 20, 2013 with her children at her side.
Edith was born May 19, 1927 in Alta, Wyoming to Carl A. and Mary Leah Waddell Carlson. She attended schools in Alta and Driggs and graduated from Teton High School in 1945 as Valedictorian.
Edith married Fred Hunter Wade in July of 1948 and 11 children were born to this union. Fred and Edith ran Fred's Variety in Driggs until about 1970, and then she became a postal clerk in the Driggs Post Office until retiring, along with all of her other odd jobs.
Edith was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions, one of which she loved was working in the nursery and held this position for many years. She loved the little children, and it also showed with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved going visiting teaching. Edith loved to read, crochet, and quilt, of which she has made quilts for all of her grandchildren to be given to them when they graduate from high school.
Edith is survived by her 11 children, Sandra (Elmer) Vorwaller of American Falls, ID, Jolene (Ray) Robinson of Burley, ID, Rodney (Mary) Wade of Rexburg, ID, Beth (Richard) Sorsensen of Yuma, AZ, Margaret Wade of Kennewick, WA, Alan (Karen) Wade of Highland, UT, Don (Vicky) Wade of Tetonia, ID, Wendy (LaVel) Stoker of Burley, ID, Gerry Wade of Tetonia, ID, Tania Wade of Boise, ID, and David Wade of Driggs, ID, 45 grandchildren, 102 great grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters, and a sister-in-law Doris Carlson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred Wade, two grandsons, Joseph Sorensen, and Adam Stoker, her sisters, May (Golden) Allred, Leah (Delmar) Sant, Hazel (JayDell) Butler, and a brother Ray Carlson.
Funeral services will be April 27, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Driggs Stake Center. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both times at the stake center. Interment will be in the Hayden Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
