Obituary

Morgan Elmo Seeley passed away peacefully at home in Chester, Idaho on September 17, 2018 at the age of 96. Elmo was born in Chester, Idaho on February 15, 1922, to Joseph Hyrum and Blodwyn Williams Seeley.

He graduated from high school in Saint Anthony, Idaho and went on to serve an LDS mission in the Eastern States. Upon returning from his mission, he enlisted in the US Army where he served as a mechanic and driver in the 12th Armored Division of the 23trd Tank Battalion.

He married Marilyn Brown on November 2, 1950, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home and raised their family in Chester.

After returning home from his time in the military, he worked for the US Forest Service and then went on to work for Ricks College, where he retired as Postmaster. Elmo spent many happy and productive hours working with his sheep, and raising and sharing the bounty from his beautiful garden.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including as Bishop of the Chester Ward for 12 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marilyn Brown Seeley of Chester. He is also survived by his brothers, Dwayne (Marie) Seeley of Rexburg, Idaho, Max Seeley of Chester, Lloyd Seeley of Chester. Elmo is lovingly remembered by his children: Pamela (Charles) Johnson of Green Valley, CA, Mark (Becky) Seeley of Chester, ID, Alan (Holly) Seeley of Chester, ID, Susan (Roland) LaFlamme of Whitehall, ME, DeAnn (Myron) Spencer of Scotsdale, AZ, Wyn (Kathy) Seeley of Grant, ID, and Wade Seeley of Salt Lake City, UT. He was a loving grandfather to 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center, 516 North 2nd Street. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the stake center. Interment will be in the Chester Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
