Eugene Lyford's Obituary
Eugene "Gene" Lyford, 86, of Murrieta, California and formerly of Ashton, died December 10, 2014, at his home of natural causes.
He was born September 17, 1928, in Martinez, California to Francis Dudley and Stella Mae Hill Lyford. He graduated from high school in California and attended Sacramento State University.
He married Phyllis Hicks on October 3, 1947, in Auburn, California. They had four children. Phyllis died on May 14, 2011.
He was an entrepreneur, starting a food brokerage and food distribution company, Pearson Sales and Lyford Brokerage Company in Southern California.
He played the ukulele and enjoyed playing tennis. His family was important to him and he loved spending time with them. He had a magnetic personality, was intelligent, and enjoyed interacting with people. He was an entertaining storyteller.
He is survived by his children, Lawrence (Michele) Lyford of South Jordan, Utah, Randall (Cheryl) Lyford of Huntington Beach, California, Karen Lee (Bennie) Smith of Murrieta, California, Mark Lyford of Orem, Utah; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Grave side services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, at the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton.
