Obituary

Fritz R. Harrigfeld, 93, of Ashton, died Sunday, April 7, 2024, at his home.  He was born September 25, 1930, in Squirrel, Idaho to William "Bill" and Frieda Kandler Harrigfeld.  He was the third of six boys.  He lived on the family farm in Squirrel.

He attended school in Squirrel through the sixth grade.  Then his family moved to the farm outside of Ashton and he continued school in Ashton.  He graduated from Ashton High School in 1948.

He married Frankie Kuck on October 31, 1952.  They had six children, raising them on the farm outside of Ashton.  Frankie died on December 2, 2015.

Fritz was inducted into the US Army on February 3, 1953.  He served in Korea on the DMZ.  He served honorably and returned to the farm in Ashton at the completion of his service.

Fritz loved farming and ranching.  He was involved with the Farmers Owned Ditch Company, Squirrel Meadows Cattle Association, and the Fremont Madison Cattle Association.

Fritz is survived by his children, Greta Lenz, Fritz (Lois) Harrigfeld, Jeff (Mo-Nee) Harrigfeld, Brenda (Chris) Wood, David (Becky) Harrigfeld; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, and daughter Teresa.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 1, 2024, at the Pineview Cemetery.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
