Garrett
Crain
Oct 4, 1998 — Dec 13, 2022
Garrett Russell Crain, age 24, died by suicide in West Jordan, Utah. Garrett's boss was concerned about him not showing up for work and requested a welfare check on December 13, 2022 at which time he was found deceased in his apartment. He was born in Rexburg, Idaho on October 4, 1998. His parents are Marvin Delbert Crain and Misty Autumn Russell Crain. He attended grade school in St. Anthony, Idaho and Sugar City, Idaho. He graduated from Sugar-Salem High School in 2017 and attended some college at Utah State University. He was an insurance salesman for Allstate at the time of his death.
Garrett earned the rank of "Eagle" from the Boy Scouts of America. He achieved his Eagle rank upon completion of a mural project which is located inside Sugar-Salem High School. He wanted his mural to be a visual representation of the collective talents of the students and faculty. His desire was to help students and faculty recognize the importance of their contributions no matter the size or type. On the mural he painted this statement, "Strong Alone, Stronger Together."
Garrett is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Garrett worked for Dalling's Farm each summer, during his teenage years, where he developed a great work ethic and strong physique. As a child, he made comic strips, wrote books with illustrations, drew a lot, and loved to read. He enjoyed the outdoors snowmobiling, riding dirt bikes, hiking in the mountains, climbing, swimming in bodies of water, and wandering off to discover on his own. He loved spending time with friends and family. In the final years, he often expressed his concerns about political issues, and talked to his family about his appreciation and love for God and Jesus.
Garrett is survived by his parents Marvin and Misty of St. Anthony Idaho, his sister Kierra Crain Barnard and brother-in-law Liam Barnard; his brother Cache Crain in Accra, Ghana, Africa; maternal grandparents Iris & David Judd and Kenneth & Barbara Russell; paternal grandmother Sandra Crain; and his beloved cousins, friends, aunts, uncles, and nephew.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bruce Baxter of Baxter Funeral Home. Garrett's funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 247 E 4th N in St. Anthony, Idaho.
