Obituary

George Arthur Atwood passed away at his home in Island Park, Idaho on December 5th, 2018. He was born July 19th, 1952 in Niangua, Missouri to Etta "Evlyn" Atwood. He was third of seven siblings which he grew up with near Conway, Missouri. After attending Conway High School, he married Kathy (Williams-Hacker) and had his oldest daughter Candace Marie.


In 1976 he moved to Idaho for opportunities for hunting big game. He met and married Susan (Stoneberg) and were the owners of Firelight Pizza in Idaho Falls. They had two children together Amy Lynn and Jared James.


Although he was skilled in many types of construction, he loved to run his own business, Atwood Concrete Construction. He lived in Rigby and Idaho Falls over the years then he finally made his home in Island Park at the family cabin. George enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hunting, playing with and telling stories to his grandchildren were his favorite pastimes.


He is survived by his daughters, Candace Atwood and Amy (Tom) Hills; and son Jared (Sarah) Atwood. He is also survived by sister Darlene Chavez; brothers Kenneth Pearon, Kerry Atwood and David Atwood along with his six grandchildren, Logan Kammeier, John "Jr" - Maiah Adams, Remie - Jaxton Atwood and Katrianna Hills. He is preceded in death by his Mother Evlyn Atwood; brothers Edward Atwood and Eldon "Jr" Atwood.


George was such a carefree, no rush for anything man! In his true fashion we will have a celebration of life for him that will be held late spring/summer 2019 in Island Park, Idaho.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 21, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. at Lakeside Lodge in Island Park.
