Harold Mower

Harold Alonzo Mower, age 84, of Ashton, Idaho, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 29, 1942, in Ashton, Idaho, to William Harold Mower and Lillie Jane Mower. Harold lived a life defined by love, family, faith, and perseverance.

Harold graduated from high school in Ashton, Idaho, and continued his education at Ricks College and Snow College. On May 31, 1963, he married the love of his life, Marla Beth Hathaway, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, they enjoyed 43 years of marriage before Marla's passing. Harold and Marla were blessed with five children, and throughout the years, they opened their home and hearts to many foster children.

Harold had a strong faith and loved being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout his life, he served in several callings within the Church. One of his favorite callings was serving as a Scoutmaster, where he was able to share his love and knowledge of the outdoors with the youth.

Harold is survived by his five children: Loni (Jedd) Richards, Renee (Kent) Braun, Kristen (Nathan) Scafe, Jennifer Hinshaw, and Lance (Janean) Mower; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Lynden Mower.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marla; his sisters, Norma Reynolds and Viola Tew; his brothers, David Mower and William Mower; his parents, William Harold and Lillie Jane Mower; and his parents-in-law, Shirley Joseph and Virginia Beth Hathaway.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Spring Hollow LDS Chapel, 1313 North 3600 East, in Ashton. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the management and staff at Ashton Living Center for the love, patience, and devotion they showed Harold throughout the last six years. Their compassionate care and kindness will always be remembered and appreciated.
