Ila Miller Peck, a choice daughter of her Heavenly Father, passed from her earthly mortality on August 17, 2017 in her St. Anthony home at about 3:30 pm. She is survived by her husband, two children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Alex, and her sister Lucille.
Ila was the first child born to John William Miller and Mable Rose Bird on July 26, 1937 in St. Anthony, Idaho. She attended school grades 1-12 in St. Anthony graduating from South Fremont High School in 1955. She then attended Ricks College School of Nursing, graduating in 1958 and certifying as a Registered Nurse.
On June 27, 1958, Ila married Fred Peck then of Ashton, Idaho in a civil ceremony at the home of LaRue Jeff's parents in St. Anthony, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls temple on August 26, 1959.
Ila was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings including several Relief Society Presidencies as a counselor at both the ward and stake levels. She served as a Stake Young Women's President, Stake Librarian, and numerous musical callings. Later in her life, she served as a Stake Relief Society advisor on campus at BYU-Idaho. She also served as a temple worker in the Rexburg Temple. She considered her calling on campus and in the temple as her missionary callings.
She had a passion for growing orchids, bobbin lace, sewing and embroidering. She loved to read and could always be found with her nose in a book. She worked at Madison Memorial, as an office nurse for Dr. Payne in Logan, Ut,, Secretary for the Tri-County School District in Salina, Ut, a nurse at Ashton Memorial, and then as the librarian at the Ashton Library.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the St. Anthony 2nd Ward Chapel, 145 East 1st North. Her family will meet with friends and family on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the chapel. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
