Obituary

With deep love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Inez Louise Eck, who peacefully passed away in her home on February 23, 2026, at the age of 92.

Inez was born on November 13, 1933, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Carrold Sigman and Inez Ocal Brooks. She was the second of four children and spent her early years growing up in Idaho Falls, where she developed the strong family values and generous spirit that would define her life.

At just 16 years old, on July 15, 1950, she married the love of her life, Howard Ellsworth Jerome Eck. They made their home in the beautiful Teton Valley, Idaho. Their marriage was one of devotion and deep love. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service, welcoming five children into their home. After Howard's passing on March 16, 1994, Inez remained faithful to his memory and never remarried, carrying his love with her always.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard; her infant daughter, Iris; and her son, Howard Kurt Eck.

Inez is survived by her children: Juanita Hymas; Inez Elaine Smith (Delwin); and Reuel Obediah Eck II. Her legacy continues through all of those who lovingly referred to her as Grandma Howdy, those are her 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren — each one a living testament to the love she poured into her family

Inez loved freely and without hesitation. She supported and befriended everyone she met, always keeping an open door for those in need. No one left her home without feeling welcomed. Though she held many different jobs throughout her life, one of her greatest passions was creating beautiful flower arrangements. She lovingly arranged the flowers for several of her children's and grandchildren's weddings, adding her personal touch to some of the most important days of their lives.

Above all else, Inez loved her family with her whole heart. They were her pride, her joy, and her greatest accomplishment. She was also an avid and faithful member of Jehovah's Witnesses, and her faith guided her life, strengthened her through hardships, and shaped the kindness she showed to others.

Her life was one of devotion — to her husband, her children, her faith, and to anyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, hospitality, and unwavering commitment to family.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
