Obituary

JoAnn Dickason, 92, of Ashton, died June 1, 2024, at the Gables Assisted Living in Blackfoot surrounded by her family.

She was born November 25, 1931, in Sparks, Nevada to William Allen and Edna Miriam Sprague Dedman.  As a young child her family moved to Drummond, Idaho where JoAnn attended elementary school.  She finished her schooling in Ashton, graduating from North Fremont High School in 1950.  After graduating high school she attended secretarial school in Portland, Oregon.

She married Victor Eugene "Gene" Dickason, on December 27, 1952, in Ashton.  They lived and raised their family in Ashton and Squirrel.  Gene passed away on July 26, 2019.

JoAnn was an artist and enjoyed oil painting.

She was a member of the Ashton Community United Methodist Church and was involved with the Methodist Women.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Gaston and Janet (Wayne) Ingram of Blackfoot; a brother, Neal Dedman of St. Anthony; grandchildren, Madie Ingram, Cody Ingram, Jacob Gaston, Kimberly Villagomez, and Molly Gaston; and ten great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; and brothers, Keith Dedman and Bill Dedman.

As a family, we express our gratitude to the caregivers and staff at The Gables in Blackfoot who have provided such loving care to our mother.  Also, thank you to the caregivers from Symbii Home Health and Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at Baxter Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Rhodes of the Ashton Community United Methodist Church officiating.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services.  Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
