Johnnie
Edwards
Sep 17, 1960 — Sep 6, 2023
Johnnie Bruce Edwards, 62, of Ashton, died September 6, 2023, at home with his family. He was born September 17, 1960, in Rockenhausen, Germany. He was adopted by Arlan and Sally Edwards.
Johnnie grew up in North Carolina. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities. He liked helping on the farm and always had a story about working in the tobacco.
He graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North Carolina on June 9, 1978. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served honorably from 1979 to 1984. During his deployment he served on the Orion, spending time in Italy, Greece, and several other countries abroad.
When Johnnie separated from the Navy he started working for New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, spending 33 years as an Information Technology specialist.
In 2005, he married Rebecca Daniels from St. Anthony, Idaho. They lived in Riegelwood, North Carolina where they enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising deer hounds.
In 2016, they moved back to Becky's home state, Idaho. They settled in Ashton so Becky could take care of her father.
Johnnie held several part-time jobs which he thoroughly enjoyed, Forest Service at Mesa Falls, Broulim's in Driggs, and Fremont County transfer station in Island Park. He loved all the people that he worked with, and all the people he met through his working.
Johnnie enjoyed spending time with his new family - Orion and Kristen Bergeson of Menan, Shannon Bergeson of Pahrump, Nevada; and his grandchildren and great-grand babies.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca; mother, Sally (Glen) Wade Therling of Blaine, Washington; sister, Carla Savinon; niece, Noela Savinon and nephew, Justin Savinon, all of Bellingham, Washington. He is preceded in death by his father Arlan Edwards.
