Obituary

Joshua Monroe Kelly passed away following a courageous battle with epilepsy on 13 February 2014.

He was born 27 December 1975, in Logan, Utah, the eldest child of Terrell and Lynne Kelly. At the time of his death he was in the final semester of his collegiate career at Idaho State University and is scheduled to graduate posthumously with a BS in Geology this spring.

Even through his toughest times Josh remained optimistic of his future. Josh was known for always showing up to his college classes early and staying late. He would help anyone who did not understand the subject and ask nothing in return. His classmates have commented on how he was always happy and ready with a joke or funny comment to help lighten up the classroom. Even though he had enough geology credits to meet the requirements for his degree, Josh's love for learning drove him to take any class in the subject that he could fit in his schedule.

Josh has always loved the great outdoors, which eventually drew him to the love of geology. This love began with numerous family camping trips to Island Park, and as a small child he went camping in 35 out of 50 states. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, snow machining, snowboarding, paintball competitions, golfing and spending time with his friends and family.

Josh was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and while not active at the time of his death, he always had a belief in God. Josh was always a giving individual and as his final gift he donated his organs to those in need.

Josh is survived by his parents, Terrell Lynn Kelly and Lynne Ann Monroe Kelly of Island Park; siblings Jared of Idaho Falls; Justin (Lauren Farrell) of North Salt Lake City, Utah; Jessica (Eldon Cahoon) of Casper, WY; Jason (Jennifer Waite) of Jerome; and Jamie of Idaho Falls. He is survived by his nephews and nieces: Kendall Cahoon, Kelly Cahoon, Katelynn Cahoon, Wyatt Kelly, and Morgan Kelly. He is survived by his grandparents: Dick (Karen Edwards) Kelly of Murray, UT and MaryAnn Kelly of West Valley, UT. Finally, he is survived by his service dog, Cletus, who on numerous occasions remained at his side when he suffered seizures while at home and in public. Josh is preceded in death by his grandparents Gordon Monroe and Hazel Gibbons Monroe.
As a family we express our gratitude to his friends for their care and love. We also express our thanks to police, fire, and EMS personnel who have provided care and transportation over the years in times of need.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center with Bishop Jason Hurd officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Island Park Cemetery later this spring.
