Obituary

Juanita Umphrey Bainbridge, 94, of Tetonia, passed away January 24, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.

Nita was born April 24, 1920, in Clementsville, Idaho, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie Ard Umphrey. She went to school and spent her childhood in Clementsville.

On May 3, 1937, she married Earl Eugene Bainbridge. They lived on their farm at Richvale until they built a home in Tetonia as their potato and grain farming increased and was spread across the valley. They owned and developed Packsaddle Estates on the west side of the Teton Valley.

Nita was deeply involved with community events in Tetonia. She was very generous with her time and funds to help others in need, and for different community events. She was Santa's helper for years, helping to identify children that were coatless and help to provide them with coats. She always made popcorn balls and wrapped Avon for gifts for the clients that lived at Moose Creek Center at Victor.

She started the Easter Egg Hunt in Tetonia through the businessmen of Tetonia organization. She organized and financially supported the hunt to allow each child to have a basket instead of just a few receiving them. She made an Easter Bunny suit which she would wear for the little kids to have pictures taken with her.

She is survived by her children, Kay (Ronnie) Fullmer, Judie (Keith) Tonks, Rea Fullmer, Sharon (Raymond) Nethercott, Kellie (Glade) Hansen all of the Teton Valley. To date she has 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren for a total of 94.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, son Dale Eugene, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, at the Tetonia 2nd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop James Douglass officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Cache-Clawson Cemetery, near Tetonia, under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home in Ashton.
