Karen Skeen Loosli was born in Ogden, Utah at the McKay Dee Hospital on October 18, 1961, to Archie Elwood and Sharon Powell Skeen. She was the third of five beautiful children. Karen had a magical childhood and spent her days playing with her sisters and friends in the neighborhood. They wrote plays, ate picnics, and played softball. Their imagination was endless.

She graduated from Weber High School in 1979 and was her class historian. She continued her education at Utah State University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Elementary Education. It was also here where she met the love of her life, Brian Lynn Loosli.

Brian and Karen were set up on a blind date in the Spring of 1982 at a M*A*S*H Bash Lineup Dance. After their third date, Brian knew he should marry her. That November, Brian and Karen were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Brian and Karen were blessed with five amazing children. Karen's children were her life and light. She spent her whole life helping and supporting her children. She made it to every sporting event, helped with every school project, edited endless papers, helped her kids apply for scholarships, and drove her kids for hours on end – including two-hour round trip drives to piano lessons. She spent her life advocating for more services for children with special needs, like her son Michael. She also served on the regional advisory panel for the Idaho Community Foundation to help strengthen communities around Idaho. Karen was an amazing grandmother. When her grandkids were asked what they loved most about her, they replied "Everything."

Karen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She devoted so much of her time and energy to the Ashton First Ward as a Relief Society President, a member of the Primary Presidency, a Scout Leader and a devoted minister/visiting teacher. The temple was her holy place, and she prioritized going there almost weekly. She was always serving those around her and loved helping people. Photography was also a passion, and she was able to capture the everyday details that most people overlook.

Karen will be deeply missed by her husband Brian Loosli. She is survived by Brian and her loving children,  Kristin Loosli Chandler, Mikalla (Brett) Cheney, Megan (Brett) Beutler, Mark (Audrey) Loosli, Michael Loosli; as well as her adoring grandchildren, Lila, Robert, Owen, Sophia, Henry, Brynn, Ella, Grant, Drex, Hallie, Brooklyn, Blakely, Jace, and Byron. Karen is also survived by her mother, Sharon Skeen, and her siblings Jed (Peggy) Skeen, Susan Meik, Sally (Greg) Hardcastle, and Janet (Kerry) Peterson.

The family would like to express gratitude to the caregivers, family, and community members who have helped their family through these difficult times.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, at the Ashton LDS Stake Center.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., both times at the stake center.  Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
