Obituary

Karleen Anna Janssen was born July 7,1942, in Ashton, Idaho to Carl Richard and Margaret Garz Janssen. She died February 15, 2021, in Rexburg, Idaho from a stroke.

Her early years were spent in Marysville, the family moved to the Judkins area in 1946. She attended Judkins school through the 8th grade. High school at Driggs, St. Anthony, and graduated from North Fremont in 1960.

She attended Grooms Beauty College in Idaho Falls, working for a year before returning to Grooms as an instructor. She instructed at colleges in Eugene and Roseburg, Oregon.
She returned to Ashton, working for Mary Stronks, then opened her own salon in Ashton, The Hair Fair. She retired from hairstyling because of allergy problems.

She held several different jobs, then went to work for the Forest Service at Mesa Falls. She dearly loved her job there and the people she worked with. She was a familiar face to lots of visitors through the years.

She loved to hunt, fish, ride horses, and all things outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves a sister, Linda Janssen (Mike Rice) of Ashton, a brother Marvin Janssen (Pam) of Ashton , niece Julie Maurer (Tim) of Ashton, nephews Mike Janssen (Darcy) of St. Anthony and Dan Janssen.

She also leaves her long-time companion, Angie Johnson, Angie's daughter Tina (Chance) Armstrong and their son Case, who considered Karleen "Grandma".
