Kathryn Ann Torrenti, 54, of Victor, Idaho, died Monday, November 18, 2013, at her home after a courageous three-year battle with brain cancer. She was born November 22, 1958, in New London, Connecticut to Eugene Walter and Barbara Green Torrenti. She was raised in Old Saybrook, Connecticut and attended school there, graduating from high school in 1976. Soon after, Kate worked as a salesperson for a marine supply company.

Kate came to Teton Valley in the 1990's and worked as a floral designer and worked in sales at Grand Targhee. She met Richard Sanderson in 1997 while they were both living and working in the valley. She returned to Connecticut in 2001 to care for her mother, who was suffering from cancer. Rick and Kate were married on September 18, 2004, in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, during Hurricane Ivan. Kate worked as an mortgage loan officer for Greylock Federal Credit Union for 11 years in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Kate and Rick returned to Teton Valley in the spring of 2012.

Kate loved nature, being outdoors and spending time on the water and in the mountains. She liked to cross-country ski and snowshoe. She also enjoyed camping, boating and traveling.

Kate had a life-long love for animals and rescued several dogs and cats. Her laugh was infectious and she had the most amazing sense of humor. Kate brought happiness to those around her and was a most caring friend.

Kate is survived by her husband, Rick Sanderson, of Victor, Idaho (with dogs Noonan and Tallulah); a brother, Dr. Raymond Torrenti of Massachusetts; her mother's partner, Arthur Ferretti, an aunt and uncle, Betty and Norman Prevost, an aunt, Irma "Dolly" Mucha, all of Connecticut and an uncle, Jack Torrenti, of Pennsylvania along with several cousins; sister-in-law Jill Caisey of New Hampshire; brothers-in-law, Dale Sanderson of Massachusetts and Danny Sanderson of Colorado; and numerous dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 22 (Kate's birthday!), at the Teton Teepee, with Chaplain Joe Martinez of Eastern Idaho Hospice officiating.
