Obituary

Kathleen "Kathy" Harriet Spence, 90, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born July 21, 1929, in San Francisco, California to Harry and Florence Bell McMullen. She was raised in Washington and graduated from Wenatchee High School. She attended two years at Seattle Pacific College, studying to become a nurse.

She married Keith E. Boender, Sr., and four children, Linda, Keith Jr., Dione, and Kevin, were born to this union. She and Keith were later divorced.

She worked at Nordstroms in Seattle for many years until moving to Idaho. After living in many areas of Idaho, she settled in Ketchum where she met her spouse of 40 years, George Spence. She started the "Great Escape Babysitting Service", which she took great pride in. Children were her entire existence, from her own, their friends, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all the ones she cared for through her business. She will be greatly missed!

Kathy is survived by her husband George R. Spence; daughters, Linda K (John) Carmody and Dione Smith; grandchildren, Tony Chavez, Danika Kirkwood, Heather Carmody, Beau Boender, Tanya Apuyan, Cynthia Atchley, Alexander Smith; and three step-sons, Jon, Robert, and Jim Spence. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren. George's sons added many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the blended family.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Keith E. Boender, Jr., and Kevin E. Boender; as well as her brother and three sisters.

Private family services will be held under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home in Ashton, Idaho.
