Obituary

Keith Erastus Peterson, 91, of Ashton, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2017, at EIRMC, surrounded by family. Keith was born July 13, 1925, in Twin Groves, Idaho to Erastus Parley Peterson and Daisy Adell Richards.

Keith attended school in Twin Groves and later started working on the farm with his father. Keith met his sweetheart, Barbara M. Virgin, on a blind date in the fall of 1953. On June 9, 1954, they were married. Later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Keith was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church callings including as a counselor in the Bishopric and as a member of the High Council. He also enjoyed attending the temple. In any calling he held, he served with all his heart.

He loved raising cattle and farming. He looked forward to the spring when he could watch his favorite sport of baseball.

Keith is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 62 years, and his two children: Kym (Kristine) Peterson and Pamela (David) Cannon; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Keith was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eloise Daniel; and a grandson, Graham David Cannon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, at the Ashton Tri-Ward Chapel, 1313 N. 3600 East, north of the cemetery, with Bishop Jared Morrison officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baxter Funeral Home and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
