Larry Kent Jensen was born on November 1, 1956, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Kay and VelRay Jensen. He was welcomed by his older brother, Terry. The two would become three with the birth of another boy, Doug. Larry's fondest memories of his family included the many camping trips they took together. Shortly before Larry turned 10, the family lost VelRay in a car accident. Eight days later, Kay's heart gave out, and he joined the love of his life in the eternities. Orphaned, all three boys were taken in by VelRay's parents, Stephen and Nedra Keppner. The boys grew up on the family dairy farm, learning how to work hard.

During Larry's teenage years, he was quite the wild child. Borrowing Terry's car, Larry went out partying and wrecked the vehicle. The judge slapped him with a curfew. Knowing he wouldn't be able to follow it, Larry found a way out: he joined the army. At 17, with his guardian's permission, he signed up with the military. They promised him that he'd tour Europe. That is how he ended up in South Korea. After serving as a combat engineer on the border, Larry returned home. While visiting a potato shed looking for work, he caught the eye of Lola Worrell. They were married on August 23, 1977. The following year would bring a baby boy they named Jared.

They would move to Utah and back to Idaho as Larry explored many work options to provide for his family. A daughter was born to them in 1980, whom they named VaNesa. Taking an opportunity for a steady job involving oil drilling equipment, he moved his family to Wyoming. There they would welcome their third child, a daughter named MaLessa. Larry shared his love for camping, taking his family out multiple times a year, sometimes for a week at a time. The years went by and the kids grew up. Eventually, grandchildren joined the family and became the light of Larry's life. He loved to spoil them almost to the point of being rotten.

In 2020, VaNesa, who was living with Larry and Lola, passed away. In 2025, they moved into Lola's parents' home in Chester, Idaho, after her father passed away that year. Larry loved working in the yard. Every home they moved into, he'd care for by fixing it up, planting gardens, and landscaping the property. He took pride in the labor of his hands. On April 12, 2026, Larry's heart couldn't keep up, and he passed away.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his daughter, VaNesa. Larry is survived by his wife, Lola; son, Jared; daughter, MaLessa; and his beloved grandchildren Azrael, Dawson, Millie, Marc, and TJ.

Larry will be remembered for having a chair next to the campfire and a cup of coffee ready for anyone who showed up. His dedication to providing for his family and service to others are only a couple of his qualities that inspire those who remain behind. We love him, miss him terribly, and look forward to someday reuniting with him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton.  The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services.  Interment will be in the Chester Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the St. Anthony Veterans and the Idaho Honor Guard.
