Lola Atwood
Lola Josephine Stone Atwood, 88, of Lebanon, Oregon, formerly of Ashton, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 of natural causes.
She was born on March 1, 1925, in Warm River, Idaho to David Levi and Grace Margaret Stone.
She married Melvin Lee Atwood on March 18, 1943 in Mountain Home, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland LDS Temple. After their marriage they lived in Kings Hill, Idaho, and Crane, Oregon before moving to Eugene, Oregon in 1963.
Lola worked as a medical assistant at the University of Oregon health center until her retirement. After retiring, she and Mel moved to Ashton in 1993. They lived in Ashton until his death in 2008. She then moved to Lebanon to be closer to family.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed reading and spending time with family.
She is survived by her children, Jerry (Lavern) Atwood of Eugene, Oregon, Gary (Lee) Atwood of Springfield, Oregon, Kay Clark of Cresswell, Oregon, Gaylena (Charles) Tuchardt of Lebanon, Oregon, Daryl (Gloria) Atwood of Forest Grove, Oregon, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, at the Ashton 3rd Ward LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Pineview Cemetery under the direction of Baxter Funeral Home.
