Marianne Hossner, 53, formerly of Ashton, passed away May 29, 2023, in California. She was born August 2, 1969, in Ashton, to Dean and Carma Kirkham Hossner. She attended schools in Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School in 1987.
After graduating from high school, Marianne attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. Her activities and societies included Alpha Chi Omega, Mortar Board Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi. She also volunteered on various university boards, and for the Humane Society of Utah and Utah Food Bank. While attending university, Marianne worked as an intern for Hewlett Packard. Upon graduating she went to work full time for them until 2012. After leaving Hewlett Packard, she was self-employed as a technical leadership consultant helping businesses with development and management process improvements.
After college, Marianne married Joe Savola in Sun Valley, Idaho. Even though they later divorced, they remained friends.
In 2019, Marianne worked for the Presidential Campaign for Joe Biden. She had the opportunity to meet him at a fund raising event in Boise and was thrilled when he was elected as President.
Marianne was a Past President of P.E.O. Chapter CK in Boise and later transferred to Chapter AS in Ashton.
Marianne was a life-long Dallas Cowboy fan, sharing that passion with her mother. Her other passion was her love of dogs, including two that she rescued, Wiley and Luci.
Margaret Howe, her high school math teacher, played an important role in Marianne's life. She was Marianne's favorite teacher and encouraged her to go places in life.
Marianne is survived by her brother, Tom (Betty Jo) Hossner; several aunts and uncles; and her close friend since childhood, Mary Griffel Stommel.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton.
