Obituary

Walter Mark Phillips, passed away on October 20, 2021, at his home of natural causes.

He was born September 11, 1954, in Ashton, Idaho to Glenn Reimann and Mary Lucille Morrissey Phillips. He was raised and attended schools in Ashton. He graduated from North Fremont High School in 1972. He then attended diesel mechanic school in Phoenix.

Mark was married to Linda Adams and this union was blessed with his beautiful daughter, Amy Rae. He later divorced. He was then married to Terry McCulloch, they later divorced.  Years later he met and married his soulmate, Joanna Reiber. This union was blessed with two sons, Daniel Mark and Michael Lawrence. The family made their home in Arizona and then returned to Ashton in 1988.

Mark worked all types of construction his entire life, from concrete to roofing and everything in between.

He loved the Ashton area and all that it offered, hunting and fishing in particular. He enjoyed playing cards, pool, and golf. There may have been a little side bet when he was participating in any of these things.

He loved his family and friends. He overcame many challenges and was an upbeat and positive influence in his family's life. He was a hard worker and set an example of self-improvement and perseverance to all of his family.

He is survived by his children, Amy Phillips Pruitt and Daniel Phillips of Idaho Falls, Michael Phillips of Champaign, Illinois; soulmate, JoAnna Phillips Reiber of Idaho Falls; siblings, Mike (Jana) Phillips of Sugar City, Vincent Phillips of Rexburg, Kathy (Arlen) Pence of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Eileen (Brad) Mockli of Ashton; grandchildren, Jerime Tarpley, Taylor (Morgan) Phillips-Pruitt, Damen Pruitt, Elizabeth Pruitt; and great-granddaughter, Luna Pruitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Phillips.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, November 17, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at Baxter Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, in Ashton.  A Rosary will be held at Mary Immaculate Parish in St. Anthony on Thursday, November 18, at 10:30 a.m., with a Memorial Service starting at 11:00 a.m. immediately after the Rosary.  Interment will be in the Ashton Pineview Cemetery.
