Marva Williams Bowman was born in Chester, Idaho, on August 10, 1933, to Gomer Hugh Williams and Dorothy Elnora Howard. She was the second of nine children.
She married Gail Kent Bowman at the age of 19 on February 25, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple, and together they raised four children. Marva also had many different jobs throughout her life. She was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved serving everyone around her. She had the opportunity to serve with her husband in the Ashton Idaho Stake Mission as Family History Directors and the Ohio Columbus Mission, and later with her sister Alice in the Utah Salt Lake City Family and Church History Mission for two winters.
She was surrounded by a continuous stream of family and friends in the days leading up to her death, and she passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Wilma Bowman, Joyce Carter, Mildred Berkheimer, Deanna Baker, Alice Richards, Gordon Williams, and Darris Williams.
She is survived by her brother Mark Williams; her four children Kent (Lynnette Reynolds), Wade (Barbra Terry), Sue Barrott (James), and Chris (Deidre Thueson). She has 23 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Park Street Church of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 700 Park Street, Rexburg, ID. The family will receive family and friends Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in Ashton at the Ora Cemetery.
