Obituary

Mary (Garcia) Jackson, 84, longtime resident of Ashton, Idaho, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on March 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born February 20, 1942, in Monte Vista, Colorado, to Tobias and Seria (Rael) Garcia. She grew up with many brothers and sisters and she spent her early years traveling for her father's work making her home across the western United States.

In 1971 she met the love of her life, Barkley Jackson, of Ashton Idaho. Their marriage was one of devotion and deep love and was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together they built a life centered on faith, family and service. They were instrumental in caring for not only their own children, but many grandchildren. Their door was always open to anyone in need.

Mary and Barkley were inseparable and spent many years as a team driving interstate transport for numerous companies across the United States and Canada.

A private woman, she was nonetheless known for her warm heart and welcome nature. She had a lifelong love of collecting antiques and a passion for restoring homes with an unparalleled vision. Despite her lack of traditional education, people who knew her often remarked about how intelligent and well-spoken she was. She was notorious for her boundless energy, her delicious cooking and a love of classic country and classic Western music, TV and movies.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Olivia, Sally, Lorraine and Lucy and her brothers Leo, Avelino "Joe" and Toby "Junior."

Mary is survived by her husband, Barkley, her brother, David, her sister Dorothy, and her children: John, Valerie and Sally Ann as well as a large and lovely family including many grandchildren and great-grandchildren - each one a living testament to the love she poured into her family.

A brief graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, at the Wilford Cemetery.
